HELLO WORLD : Is Your Laptop Worth Anything?

Hello World,
With laptop technology constantly developing and the price of new laptops ever decreasing, this means the value of laptops quickly depreciates. Macbooks hold their value a lot better compared to conventional laptops due to their design and desirability.
Significantly it is the processor, RAM (Random Access Memory), size of HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and screen size that can affect the valuation of a second-hand laptop, as well as the age, condition and model.
Lower spec laptops such as e-machines lose most of their value over time compared to the likes of Sony, HP and Apple in-particular. Features such as Blu-Ray and Bluetooth help towards achieving a good sale value for your laptop.
Smaller laptops otherwise known as a Netbook / Notebook are most desirable for users who simply need to browse the web, e-mail or keep to simple word processing tasks. You can purchase these smaller units from about £150 for a brand new system.
Many retailers offer a trade-in price for your old laptop on the basis you're buying a new one, but a fraction of the true value will be offered. A far better option would be to sell your old/unwanted laptop direct to an online company who often have lower overheads compared to a High Street shop. This type of company is more likely to be able to offer you a respectable price.
Look for companies that appear in results from Google when you type in 'sell laptop or sell my laptop. These companies also sell new and used laptops so you could negotiate a higher purchase price offer if you're selling your old laptop AND buying one from them. Some of these companies will also buy your old mobile phone and game console.
Another area where there has been a huge increase is in people selling brand new unwanted laptops given to them by their mobile phone network for renewing their contract. A netbook/notebook is often an incentive given for users to extend their mobile phone contract. Many of these people will try to sell these to release much needed cash as they already have a laptop that they are happy with. (by : Aravind Ramesh)
